With Post-House Anthems 001, I wanted to embrace the intricacies of electro and house as pillars of inspiration, treated with modern sound design and my signature arrangement. This album is about desire and clarity - I have recently embarked on a journey of discovering, accepting and accommodating my neurodivergence and each of these tracks reaches for a certain feeling inspired by this realisation.

The EP starts off with “Let’s Get Naked and Party Hard” - I envisioned a heavy melodic opener with dynamic bassline, percussion and bright synths.  I produced the first half in one session but, another day - and a couple of puffs - later, I sprinkled on some processed orchestra hits to really hit that party feeling. I fell into a rabbit hole of playing with rhythms in an attempt to create a sense of release.

“The System” follows similar realms of energy and progression. On my trip to Barcelona this summer, I was touched by a group of street performers who were playing some very intricate percussive rhythms near the beach. I took that moment as inspiration, crafted an organic yet deep ambiance with deep subs and electro themed synths and vocals. In a time when I didn’t feel like I had much control, "The System" is my own attempt at manifesting this power.

“Groove101” is my favourite. Dan Andrei’s set at GH NYE23 was absolutely mind-boggling - he played Electronic by Javonntte and L.D.F. - a wild card with some very powerful sampling of the groove that made me feel like my brain was about to catch fire (nothing to do with the acid, trust). I tried to recreate that effect on a classic break, with electro bass stabs and ghetto house percussion, as well as a modern subby ambiance designed by me. The theme for this track is inspiration.

“Racing Thoughts” is a bit of an odd one out, it’s an ambient that I did when I was feeling quite at unease. I did the sound design, recorded the melodies all in one go in an attempt to release an intense feeling of confusion and sadness. While it may not be a happy feeling, it’s a feeling we all can relate to from time to time - if you’re feeling it, we’re in this together.
